Dior Brings Haute Couture to Dubai for the First Time

The circus is coming to town

Dubai hasn’t hosted a major fashion event since Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel Cruise show back in 2014, but the wait is officially over. Dior have just announced plans to showcase their circus-themed Spring/Summer 2019 couture collection in the gulf city.

The runway show will mark a first for the Middle East, and is set to take place on March 18, transplanting all the looks debuted last month at Paris Couture Week along with some exclusive looks.

Complete with a troupe of all-female acrobats, last month’s show took the French capital by storm, turning the Musée Rodin into a fully-fledged circus. If that’s any indication, there’s a lot to look forward to for Maria Grazia Chiuri, as this will be her regional debut.

As for the looks, Chiuri’s runway desgins included everything from playsuits, three-piece suits to flowing floor-length gowns.

“Every look has its own personality, just like circus characters”, the designer told AFP. “The circus is a world of its own, which passes from town to town, changing each one a little as it goes”.

The exact location of the show is yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you in the loop.
