5 of Saudi Arabia’s Most Beautiful Beaches

Another side of the ultra-conservative nation

Spearheaded by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, under the Vision 2030 reform plan, early last year, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that the nation would be making an unprecedented move towards the tourism industry.

As part of the plan, the kingdom approved a project—now known as the Red Sea Project—that would see the nation’s coastline (which spans hundreds of kilometers) transformed into a luxury resort haven.

And according to a statement released by the nation’s Public Investment Fund, the new resorts will also be “governed by laws on par with international standards,” much like the Saudi Aramco Residential Camp in Dhahran (the compound where American immigrants are able to bypass the nation’s conservative laws), non-saudi visitors will be able to to wear bikinis, drink alcohol on the resort’s premises.

The announcement of the Red Sea Project made waves across the globe and put the spotlight on what beaches in Saudi have to offer. Take one look at the pristine azure blue waters and you’ll be sold.
