The Beauty Brand Behind the First Disability-Friendly Mascara

Making makeup accessible to all

From body positivity to racial diversity, brands have grown increasingly inclusive in the last few years—and by the looks of things, industries are only growing more and more conscious. When it comes to disability-friendliness, UK-based beauty brand Grace is leading the way.

The soon-to-be-launched label just unveiled three products, designed with a clear mission to make makeup accessible to all, regardless of mobility issues.

For those of us who are abled, product design is almost always taken for granted. The reality is however, something as simple as applying mascara can be quite the challenge for those with disabilities.

“Anyone, regardless of ability, should be able to use any beauty product they want to,” reads their website.

Priced at just $11, Grace unveiled The Ring Grip, a handle attachment with a ring that offers a better grip. “When attached you don’t have to hold as hard, nor worry about losing your grip or picking up the mascara from the floor.”

The square grip, a flexible ribbed sleeve, “attaches to both side of your mascara to make it easy to open, hold and control in a discrete package”, they explained in an Instagram post.

The Safe Grip, on the other hand, is a wide angled bulbous handle that feels “rubbery, flexible but hard which will ensure a grip even though the fingers can’t wrap fully around the grip.”
