Social media always needs a good piece of gossip to keep its algorithm running. The fuel to its engine, a rumor can spark from something as small as a tweet, an Instagram story, or an accidental like, turning into the internet’s raison d’être for as long as it sees fit. And all it took to send platforms like X into a meltdown this time was a tiny snapshot posted online by renowned producer Wheezy, which, based on everyone’s wild guesses, seems to hint at a new collaboration between Future and Young Thug.
Arguably two of the most toxic men the concept of dating has ever raised, both Atlanta-born rappers were seen at the center of the rumor mill this weekend following an Instagram story posted by the American record producer. The shot, which appears to be taken from a music studio, features a neon-green LED sign which reads Super Slimey 2, which fans interpreted as confirmation that new music from Future and Young Thug is on the way.
Nodding to their first collaborative project of the same name, Super Slimey, which dropped in 2017, marked the duo’s first full-length effort together. Both known for portraying love in ways many have found distasteful or downright irksome, their respective brands of romance—full of toxic behavior, manipulation, and indulgence— once brought together, create a near-endless well of Instagram caption material for the kind of guys your parents used to warn you about. Though this is all just speculation, with Thug’s legal battles now behind him, the idea of a second opus is looking more probable than it was in the past, giving the duo a chance to pick up where they left off almost eight years after their first release.
As we wait for confirmation from either side regarding a possible sonic reunion, we’re choosing to pass time by compiling a list of things we expect their album to be more toxic than— if it ever comes out.
