After nearly two months since we last checked in, to our pleasure, we’ve found the health of North Africa’s rap scene to stil be feverish (in a good way). Louder than ever now that it’s moving past the stage of being labeled a simple “grassroots movement,” the subregion’s hip-hop industry has never felt more alive. Starting to unequivocally be recognized for what it’s always been — a sonic archive of youth culture — the genre can now demand to be viewed as the primary language of expression for young people living across North Africa.
Sticking to our quest of spotlighting the freshest and hardest MCs the tip of the continent has to offer, in this third installment of our series, we have, once again, compiled a non-exhaustive list of 17 underground North African rappers you should keep a close eye on right now.
