Fashion trends are famously transient, capturing the zeitgeist of a moment before swiftly fading into the background of style history. This fleeting nature of fashion is propelled by the rapid churn of the industry, where designers and brands continually push new, exciting looks to satiate the market’s thirst for something fresh. Each season brings with it new colors, silhouettes, and styles that eclipse the old, making fashion a perpetual motion machine of change. The result is a landscape where today’s must-haves become tomorrow’s “what was I wearing?”, emphasizing the temporal nature of fashion trends. Amid this ever-rotating revolving door, the question of what’s next in fashion becomes particularly compelling as we close out the first month of 2025. To get a glimpse of what the next 11-months will look like, we turned to fashion director, Rana Mourad, who is known for her keen eye on emerging trends and her ability to forecast the shifts in style with remarkable accuracy. Her CV that spans styling, creative direction, and work with brands such as Diesel, Hermès, and Fred Perry, among others, equips her with a nuanced understanding that allows her to forecast the trends that will resonate from the runways to IRL. Read on to discover her top fashion predictions for 2025.
Plaid/tartan
Vivienne Westwood made plaid and gingham cool in the ’90s amongst the punk movement and it has been forgotten amidst PJ patterns over the years. Personally, I have always been a fan of the pattern and I am so happy to see it come back in full force and especially in the pastel colors.

Sheer clothing
It’s exciting to see the “soft girl” aesthetic gain dimensionality with the sheer texture coming in at full force. It was seen across almost all the runways between Milan and Paris for the Spring 2025 runway shows. For the sensuality and mystery sheer provides, it borders on that thin line between softness and edginess.

Unconventional heels
I walked into the Rick Owen’s store and saw the Porterville Cantilever boots, and there was no going back. the Giuseppe Zanotti, no heel aesthetic is one that Lady Gaga dominated— it was seen as costume-y, but in today’s modern age, weird and unpredictable is in. The more shocking, the better which is why this silhouette is going to conquer.
