5 Arabic Ramadan Series to Binge-Watch During the Holy Month

Ramadan begins March 22 and the countdown is on. The Holy Month will see Muslims everywhere embark on a journey of spirituality and reflection, by way of praying, fasting, and spending time with loved ones. It is also the ideal time for indulging in the plethora of Arabic series starring some of our favorite actors. With fasts running longer than 13 hours this year, we’ve rounded up some of the best TV shows to binge back-to-back during Ramadan this year.

‘Wa Akheeran’

Lebanese star Nadine Nassib Njeim stars alongside Syrian actor Kosai Khauli for the third and final series of Wa Akheeran, set to air during the holy month. The show is written and directed by Syrian filmmaker Ousama Obeid Alnasser.

‘Hamdellah Ala Al Salama’

Starring Egyptian icon Youssra, the upcoming series tells the story of a housewife who returns to her home country from abroad in search of her children’s heirs. The show also stars Shaimaa Seif, Mohamed Tharwat, Adam Al Sharkawy, Mayan El Sayed, and more.

‘STAND UP! YA ARAB!’

The new OSN series, will air each day throughout the holy month. Each episode will feature 30 minutes of stand-up comedy talent from all over the Arab world. A platform for emerging Arab stand-up comedians and a showcase for Arab audiences to discover regional comedic talent, the upcoming Ramadan series will highlight 60 comedians from the Arab World, hailing from 12 countries, including the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Lebanon, and Egypt.

‘Darb Naar’

Ahmed Ghozzi, Yasmin Abdulaziz, Ahmad Al-Awady, Soheir El-Morshidy, Badria Tolba, Eman Al-Sayyed, and Huda El-Etreby make up the cast for the third season of the Ramadan series written by Nasser Abdulrahman and directed by Mostafa Fekry.

‘Al Imam Al Shafi’i’

Egyptian actor Ahmed Ghozzi has also joined the biography series Al Imam Al Shafi’i, in which Khaled El Nabawy embodies the titular Imam’s role. Al Imam Al Shafi’i, written by Mohamed Hesham Obayya and directed by Laith Hijo, will also star Arwa Gouda, Salma Abou Deif, and Khaled Anwar.
