Ahead of the world premiere of
Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), 5ivepillars teamed up with the film’s writer-director Bassam Tariq on a new collection of clothing. Created alongside the team behind the upcoming feature, the capsule takes some of its biggest themes— namely faith, family, motherhood, and devotion— and gives them a life beyond the big screen through a range of apparel and accessories.
Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother stars two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali as Latif, a devout Muslim hitman attempting to navigate grief and fatherhood while protecting his children. And despite what the title might initially suggest, no, somebody did not accidentally type the same words three times.
The name instead comes from one of Islam’s best-known teachings on motherhood. In a famous hadith, when the Prophet Muhammad is asked who is most deserving of a person’s companionship, he answers “your mother” three times before mentioning the father, placing particular emphasis on the care, respect, and importance afforded to mothers within the faith.
According to 5ivepillars, the label founded by Farrukh Ershad in 2014, the upcoming collection will span ready-to-wear and accessories, with pieces available exclusively through the brand’s website.
UPDATE: The collection has since been released and is now available via this link.
