First, it was Umm Kulthum’s hologram concert at Saudi Arabia’s 2019 Winter at Tantora Festival. Now, a holographic Abdel Halim Hafez will grace the stages of the Dubai Opera for a one-of-a-kind experience this Eid.
Organised by MBC and production company NDP, two 90-minute concerts will see a digitised version of the iconic late singer perform some of his biggest hits, accompanied by a live orchestra.
This isn’t the first time a holographic version of the El Andaleeb El Asmar, as Hafez is known, has taken to the stage. A debut concert, which took place at the Baron Empain Palace in Cairo, had sold-out last March.
To make this happen, a team of technicians built the hologram from scratch after hundreds of hours of studying concert performances and consulting with the Nightingale’s family members and professional associates.
Making things even more challenging is the live orchestra which will have to follow the hologram’s movements to a T, for a perfectly synchronized performance.
The concert will take place at the Dubai Opera on May 13 and 14
