According to Rumors, Supreme and Balenciaga Might Have a Collaboration in the Works

Time to get your bots ready

It’s day 325 of 2022, and by now, it seriously feels like there’s not been a full 24 hours that have gone by without Balenciaga being on everyone’s  mind. This year, the Spanish brand continuously made headlines, always finding a new way to trend on social media platforms to generate noise, gather attention, and turn itself into an unmissable figure in the world of fashion — as if it wasn’t already — whether it was through its mud-filled runway show in Paris or by dropping a line of homeware and accessories.

From the label’s recent break up with Ye and sudden disappearance from Twitter, it’s safe to say that the high-end powerhouse has managed to remain relevant all throughout the industry’s competitive calendar, setting the Internet into a frenzy each time it releases a new collection or posts an update. By the sounds of it, this end of year is about to be no different as, since this weekend, rumors have been circulating online hinting towards a potential collaboration with hard-to-cop streetwear label Supreme.

Last Paris Fashion Week, attendees of Balenciaga’s mud-splattered Spring 2023 ready-to-wear presentation noticed a box logo-esque design strut down the runway. What was initially perceived as a sartorial homage to the iconic skateboarding brand, according to @DropsByJay, an account known for sharing accurate inside information about Supreme, the cameo should instead be understood and interpreted as the teaser of an upcoming collaboration between the two hypebeast-loved names

In a post that was quick to get Instagram users talking, and most importantly hoping, the account adamantly claimed that fans of both brands  “are set to see an official collaboration between these two coming Spring of 2023. This will be their biggest designer collab’ since 2017 that was done with LV, with even more in store for the collection.”

So far, no further information was provided regarding a potential release date or range of products. In fact, the rumor itself  has yet to be confirmed by either party, which means that only time will tell whether @DropbyJay’s predictions will turn out to be true or not. Given the price points of Supreme’s last collaboration with a high-end designer brand, such as Louis Vuitton in 2017 and Burberry more recently, best believe that aspiring buyers should start saving up now if they want to put their hands on what could be the release of this winter — if it ever materializes.

As we patiently wait for more updates, here’s what the Twittersphere had to say about the latest streetwear gossip in the meantime.
