If there’s one surefire way to get people talking about your brand, it’s collaborations. A quintessential way to create buzz and capture attention, they allow labels, from all over the spectrum, to merge audiences, spark creativity, and deliver something fresh and completely unexpected to prospective buyers and long-time followers of each company. So naturally, when two heavyweights join forces, it’s bound to turn heads. Such is the case for German sportswear giant Adidas and independent Swedish fashion house AVAVAV, who recently teamed up to create a collection that’s unlike anything the athletic brand has ever done before.
Announced over the weekend, the two brands unveiled their partnership, first introduced during AVAVAV’s Spring 2025 Milan Fashion Week presentation in October. Now the hotly-anticipated pieces— including cropped tops, matching track pants, a tracksuit robe, second-skin layering tops, an exaggerated puffer jacket with hunched shoulders, and sneakers in AVAVAV’s signature toe silhouette— are finally hitting shelves and let’s just say that they’re as bold and unconventional as you’d expect.
Adding their touch to a myriad of Adidas staples, AVAVAV reimagined several classics with daring silhouettes, oversized proportions, and avant-garde detailing, bringing a fresh, fashion-forward edge to the iconic sportswear brand. Founded in 2021 by Stockholm-born designer Beate Skonare Karlsson, the self-built brand has garnered a reputation for its subversive vision and playful irreverence towards the high-end luxury industry, which they have once again applied onto this new line.
“It has been a long-time dream of mine to partner with Adidas Originals. I’m honored and beyond happy to have the opportunity to play around with their incredibly strong DNA—it’s so much fun! From the beginning of our partnership, I was encouraged to ‘make fun’ of Adidas,” Karlsson explained in a recently shared press release. “There’s so much irony in how seriously we take both sports and fashion and exploring that while maintaining a serious attitude has been incredibly fun,” she added.
Adidas Originals by AVAVAV will be up for grabs starting Nov. 21. While you wait, scroll down to discover some of our favorite items from the forthcoming collection to add to your wishlist.
