Adidas Teams Up With Saudi Artist Raghad Al-Ahmad on Modest Collection

dubbed The Bloom Sky Collection

Sportswear giant Adidas is highlighting diversity and inclusivity through a collaboration with Saudi multidisciplinary artist Raghad Al-Ahmad.

Dubbed The Bloom Sky Collection, the new co-designed offering  was formally launched at select Adidas stores worldwide and online on Sept. 1, making it the first-ever the German brand dedicates an entire collection to Saudi Arabia sold both internationally and regionally.

Adidas, which has expanded its presence in the Kingdom with several campaigns in recent years—including the UltraBoost19 campaign shot in Jeddah for International Women’s Day in 2019 and, more recently, Adidas Original’s “1000 Back” campaign lensed by Omani multi-hyphenate Chndy in Riyadh—is committed to spotlighting Arab talent. This latest collaboration is no exception.

“As humans, our diverse experiences and rich cultural heritage shape our essence,” said the Jeddah-born artist. “Embracing our authenticity is the key to unlocking our empowerment. Adidas is paving the way for talented Saudis to claim their spotlight on the global stage,” she added.

Al-Ahmad, who is known for capturing the vibrant beauty of Saudi Arabia through her art, was tasked with designing a range of high-quality sportswear inspired by the Kingdom’s colorful landscape and tradition of poetry. In addition to unisex pieces such as trousers, shorts sweaters, jackets, football tops, hoodies, and t-shirts, the collection also includes modest pieces for women such as an abaya and hijab to offer coverage without compromising on performance.

The collection was over a year in the making, with Al-Ahmad making several trips to the Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany to meet with the brand’s global design team. “My homeland, rich in cultural identity and natural beauty, consistently fuels my creative spirit. Connecting with my roots allows me to flourish like a lavender flower in the middle of the desert,” shared the artist ahead of the release. “Now, it’s your time to bloom, no matter how dry your surroundings may be.”

It’s not the artist’s first time teaming up with an international fashion brand. In 2021, she designed playing cards that represent and celebrate Saudi culture for Jean-Paul Gaultier.
