A source of infinite pride, football jerseys—especially those of national teams—let most fans feel like they’re part of something much bigger. And when the shirt’s design goes extremely hard, it’s also said to make them feel part of something much cooler as well; which is exactly how Algerian football fans must be feeling right now after the release of their latest kit.
Designed by German sportswear giant Adidas, the longtime sponsor of the Algerian Football Federation since 2014, the Fennecs’ latest kit is a tribute to the rich history and cultural legacy of Algeria. Inspired by the traditional Karako—a luxurious velvet jacket adorned with intricate gold and silver embroidery from Algiers—the creative team behind the new home and away kits sought to honor the nation’s heritage while seamlessly infusing a sleek, modern aesthetic.
Crafted from 100% recycled materials, the kits feature Algeria’s iconic colorways: the classic white for the home kit and a bold deep green for the away. The home kit stands out with a textured woven pattern that fans can actually feel, while the federation’s logo is proudly placed on the top right. In contrast, the away kit showcases the logo front and center, with Adidas’ signature three stripes positioned above. Both kits share a similar design, though the away version features a printed pattern rather than an embroidered one. As a final unifying touch, the word “Algeria” is inscribed in Arabic on the back, symbolizing pride and connection for fans, whether they’re in Algeria or cheering from afar.
The launch of the new kits coincide with a short film, narrated by legendary French-Algerian rapper Rim’K, to showcase the strong bond that exists between football and community. Set in Algiers, the promotional video shares the stories of everyday folks—café owners, barbers, and passionate fans—who embody that connection. Through their eyes, viewers get a glimpse of how football shapes their lives and how it brings joy to an entire nation, no matter the score. Featuring Algerian stars like Ramy Bensebaini, Houssem Aouar, Saïd Benrahma, Amine Gouiri, and Ramiz Zerrouki, it beautifully captures the love, which clearly goes beyond the pitch, that locals have for the game.
