The pandemic has sparked a real need for escapism and Alserkal Avenue is making it easy to keep yourself distracted. The Dubai-based institution has gone completely digital.

Alserkal Avenue’s contemporary art galleries are now available to visit online. Visitors will be able to experience all their new exhibitions with 360-views of each installation. The digital platform, which they’ve called ‘Alserkal Art Week Online’, will also include videos from gallerists and information about artists.

To make it happen, Alserkal Avenue partnered up with major art platform Artsy. Participating galleries include Concrete, which will showcase the vibrant work of the legendary Moroccan modernist master Mohamed Melehi in an exhibition titled New Waves: Mohamed Melehi. Ayyam Gallery will put Rula Halawani’s photography on display in an exhibition titled For My Father. Halawani’s body of work, which (as the exhibition name suggests) was done in remembrance of her father, sees the photographer visit several sites that hold importance in Palestinian history.

Gulf Photo Plus’s latest exhibition which featured the work of Arab photographers who documented the region’s recent revolutions and protests will also be available for viewing.
