You probably recognize Amr Waked from some of your favourite Egyptian films. Or maybe from his role alongside Scarlett Johansson in Luc Besson’s ‘Lucy’ or the 2005 blockbuster ‘Syriana’. And as of recently, Waked played everyone’s favourite Arab father in HBO series ‘Ramy’.
But the actor has officially hit the big time with his latest role. Waked has officially been cast in the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’.
The Arab actor took to Twitter to make the announcement: “Stay tuned for my appearance in the Wonder Woman 1984 movie…” he wrote. “I hope you like the movie.”

The film, which is due to be directed by Patty Jenkins, will also star Israeli actress Gal Gadot. The film follows Amazon princess and warrior Diana Prince during the Cold War, where she faces off with a villain named Cheetah.
Chris Pine, Connie Nielson and Robin Wright’s will also make a return, as well as Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal. Although details on Waked’s role have yet to be announced, the actor hinted on Twitter that most of his scenes in the film will be alongside Pascal.
But not all fans are happy,
Some Twitter users were less than happy about Waked taking on the role, citing Gadot’s background and her stint with the Israeli Defense forces.
With Gal Gadot tho? Really?
