Even if you aren’t steeped in the art world, Andy Warhol is a name you certainly know. Visual artist, film director, producer, and the undisputed pioneer of the pop art movement, it feels impossible to quantify his influence. From his iconic silkscreen portraits of celebrities to the ubiquitous Campbell’s Soup Cans, Warhol redefined what art could be—and how far its reach could extend.
Now, a groundbreaking exhibition at The Foundry in Downtown Dubai is set to further immortalize his global legacy. “Andy Warhol: The Glam Factory” is showcasing more than 100 original works by the American art icon, most of which have never before been seen in the UAE. Running until Oct. 31, the exhibit promises to pull back the curtain on Warhol’s creative genius and larger-than-life persona.
The exhibition unfolds in two immersive parts, designed to captivate both Warhol aficionados and those encountering his work for the first time. The first section is a recreation of Warhol’s legendary New York studio, the Silver Factory–this was where Warhol masterminded the creation of his now-famous silkscreens and lithographs, including the world-renowned Marilyn Monroe series. Visitors will step into this historic space, where art was mass-produced like a consumer product, blurring the lines between creativity and commerce.

The second half of the exhibition, Studio 54: The Glamorous Nightlife, shifts focus to Warhol’s love affair with the glitzy underbelly of New York’s club scene. An interactive room pays homage to Studio 54, the infamous nightclub where Warhol mingled with celebrities, artists, and cultural provocateurs. This nostalgic space offers visitors a visceral taste of the glamorous, hedonistic nightlife that fueled Warhol’s fascination with fame and excess, leaving a lasting imprint on his art.
Across both sections of the exhibition, a singular thread runs through: Warhol’s relentless obsession with fame, wealth, and celebrity culture. Warhol didn’t just document the world of fame; he inhabited it, turned it into his own personal playground, and used it to elevate his art into the realms of myth.

The exhibition traces Warhol’s meteoric rise from a humble illustrator to a revolutionary cultural force. Alongside his iconic screen prints and photographs, the show highlights the business-savvy Warhol, the artist who transformed himself into a brand. He was arguably the first to commodify his own work, producing multiple versions of the same piece in various sizes and formats, with a marketing flair that foreshadowed the influencer culture of today.
