With the end of Fashion Week just days ago, Apple has decided to prolong the spirit of Haute Couture and design as the American tech company, via its streaming service arm Apple TV+, has just begun teasing its next audiovisual venture. Titled The Supermodels, the four-part documentary series will dive deep into the seasoned careers of some of the modeling industry’s greatest.
Expected to hit screens on Sept. 20, the four-part documentary will provide “unprecedented access” into how a handful of women, namely Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington, almost single-handedly “shifted the power dynamic of an entire industry.”
A teaser trailer for the docu-series was unveiled on Tuesday, showing the four women seated in a director’s chair before a camera giving their personal definitions of what a supermodel is.
Through archival footage and very intimate Q&As, the mini-series, produced in collaboration between American production house One Story Up and Imagine Documentaries, and directed by Oscar-winning Barbara Kopple, will immerse viewers into the untold stories and long-lasting legacies of four remarkable catwalkers that shaped the entire fashion industry around their own auras and to degrees we still probably cannot precisely quantify today.
With meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to authenticity, the documentary will explore the evolution of the fashion world’s landscape, through the steps of four of its most notable catwalkers, shedding light on the cultural shifts, controversies, and groundbreaking moments that shaped its, and their, trajectories. Audiences can expect a blend of captivating storytelling, stunning visuals, and candid interviews that provide a rare insight into the personal and professional journeys of these four influential women.
First teased in 2020, the quartet took turns back then to express their thoughts and feelings over their respective disruptive careers on-screen, taking it to their own official social media accounts to share their excitement towards the upcoming docu-series. This highly anticipated addition will join Apple TV+’s prestigious lineup of captivating productions, including Bruce Springsteen’s Letter to You, Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry, Beastie Boys Story, Boys State, Home, and Imagine Documentaries’ Dads, among others.
“My sisters Christy, Linda, Cindy and I are extremely thrilled to share our story with the world and there could be no better partners than Brian Grazer, Ron Howard which is a dream come true to bring it to life, as we knew they would respect and honor our story,” Campbell tweeted at the time. “We hope our journey seen in the docuseries will encourage, motivate and inspire young people around the world. We look forward to this great adventure ahead with director Barbara Kopple,” she continued.

“To finally have the opportunity to tell our story in collaboration with the brilliant team at Imagine, and under the direction of Barbara Kopple, is as exciting for us as we hope it will be for viewers. I would love for people to see this as a celebration of not only our individual stories, but also to the power of friendship, dreams, and perseverance,” Evangelista added.
Crawford wrote, “I’m excited to reunite with my friends to both celebrate and examine the way supermodels transcended the traditional perceptions and limits of modeling in the fashion industry through time. With the support of Imagine Documentaries and Academy Award-winning director Barbara Kopple, we plan to explore the dynamic personalities, and shifts in media and culture that helped shape and define this iconic era.”
Meanwhile, Turlington took to Instagram to share how much she is “looking forward to looking back on this unprecedented time in fashion with these incredible women whom I have grown up with.”
