Arwa Al Banawi Unveils New Ramadan Collection

The Saudi designer is back

When it comes to the fashion industry in Saudi Arabia, few names have made their mark like Arwa Al Banawi. After launching her eponymous label in 2015, Al Banawi’s collections have made waves, with some of the region’s biggest stars– MILLE favourite Elisa Sednaoui among them—sporting her looks.

As for the designs that propelled her success, the 31-year-old designer no stranger to seeking inspiration from the environment that surrounds her, so it’s only natural that this season, the Jeddan-born creative sought inspiration in the holy month of Ramadan.

Entitled Talaa Helal, which translates to Crescent, her latest collection looked to the concept of new beginnings that’s closely related to Ramadan.

“It’s inspired by the holy month of Ramadan the beauty of beginnings and a start of a clean slate. The second we see the crescent, it’s officially Ramadan,” she told us.

Made of silk, cotton, and crepe fabrics, the collection includes hoodies, and Al Banawi’s signature footah, and of course, light-weight kaftans, perfect for the season. As for the colour palette, the designer took inspiration from her hometown, Jeddah. “Colors of sunsets and sunrise and the Red Sea inspire me,” she added.
