Spanish luxury label Balenciaga teamed up with American orchestra Pink Martini on a limited-edition line of merchandise this week, which simultaneously launched with a carefully-curated playlist on Apple Music to serenade you through the season.
The unisex range of clothing stretches from hoodies to long-sleeve T-shirts made of 100% organic cotton. Available both in stores and on the high-end brand’s own website, Balenciaga’s creative director Demna designed the pieces around the band’s sonic legacy referencing past albums and songs all throughout the baby pink and white imbued collection.
“It’s a great honor to collaborate with Balenciaga,” said the group’s singer, China Forbes, in an interview, revealing how appreciative she is of Balenciaga’s “bold and fresh character.”
Featuring the likes of Harry Nilsson, Leonard Cohen, and regional icon Fairouz, the 13-hour playlist is the most recent collaboration in a long line of partnerships between Balenciaga and creatives from the music industry.
As an official curator on Apple Music, Balenciaga selects artists to create their own playlists. Tracks are chosen by the selected artist or group, based on their personal tastes and influences. These creators are selected by Demna himself, who kicked the series off with his own playlist two years ago, followed by exclusive drops and limited-edition merchandise with German metal band Rammstein, French pop queen Aya Nakamura, and Acid Arab.
