Bella Hadid Was Named Model of the Year at the 2022 British Fashion Awards

Palestinians just keep winning…

Bella Hadid has been named the Model of the Year at the 2022 British Fashion Awards, which took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening. The part-Palestinian supermodel beat out other nominees Lila Moss, Adut Akech, Paloma Elsesser, and Quannah Chasinghorse.

While Hadid has been at the top of the fashion game for several years now, 2022 has certainly been career-defining for the 26-year-old, who was a constant fixture on the runways, magazine covers (including landing her first solo US Vogue cover), and campaigns for prestigious brands.

Last fashion month, in Paris, the Dutch-Palestinian model made fashion history at the Coperni Spring 2023 ready-to-wear show, where she was sprayed with a liquid that gradually turned into a dress in real time in front of the audience’s eyes. Shortly after, she was cast alongside Emily Ratajkowski, Adwoa Aboah, Ashley Graham, and Precious Lee in the 2023 Pirelli calendar, photographed by Emma Summerton, to top off her whirlwind year.

Other winners at the Fashion Awards included Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative director of Valentino, who was named designer of the year at the annual event.  Yvon Chouinard, founder of outerwear brand Patagonia, received the outstanding achievement award. Meanwhile, British brand Burberry won the metaverse world and gaming experience award for its foray into the virtual world.
