As representation continues to be at the forefront of discussions surrounding everything from media, design to fashion and art – seeing yet another brand push forward a new sports hijab design is a welcome arrival.
With an increasing number of Muslim women gaining visibility in the sports world, it’s long overdue.

Following in the footsteps of sportswear giant Nike, who dropped their own Pro Hijab line a little under one year ago—which triggered a strong emotional response from a member of the MILLE team, as well as visible and non-visible Muslim women the world over—sportswear brand Under Armour have just dropped their own version.
Named the ‘Women’s UA Sport Hijab’, the brand’s first hijab comes with some exciting additions. “We worked with some of our Muslim athletes to build a hijab just for sports” the brand states on their website, “We made prototypes and tested them in action. It breathes, dries fast, stays in place, feels comfortable—even has a place for your headphones.”

Working together with the brand’s first sponsored Hijabi athlete Saman Munir (who is just as well known for her make-up tutorials as her personal training routines) Under Armour have developed a lightweight, mesh hijab that’s perfect for working out from summer through to winter.
