Dubai’s homegrown streetwear brand Precious Trust has teamed up with independent record label BLTNM on a range of merch. Founded by the Palestinian rap duo Shabjdeed and Al Nather, BLTNM and the brainchild behind Precious Trust, Wathek Allal, announced their partnership through a music video for the song Krystal, filmed against the evocative backdrops of Ramallah and Abu Dhabi.
The new collaboration features all the Precious Trust hallmarks— think experimental graphics, unique cuts, and hand-dyed pieces— and will reach its crescendo on Aug. 3 at Dahloul Studio in Dubai, where the limited-edition collection of graphic t-shirts and hoodies inscribed with Arabic text, dad caps, and tracksuits will make its debut exclusively at a one-day pop-up event, marking BLTNM’s first venture into the world of fashion design. However, it’s not the Fi Harb hitmakers’ first foray into fashion. In 2020, the rap crew starred in a campaign for British luxury fashion house Burberry.
The new collection comes at a crucial moment, as it seeks to support Palestinian artists during an ongoing genocide in Gaza, playing an essential role in amplifying the voices of Palestinian creatives. Meanwhile, the collaboration echoes Allal’s own experience of conflict and displacement, as the Algerian designer and his family fled to Dubai from Syria during the war when he was a child.
Known for its roots in North African street culture, Precious Trust continues to make a mark in the realm of streetwear since its founding in 2017. With its constant innovative drops and collaborations with the likes of Amongst Few and Pot Plant Club, the label has gone on to earn a loyal following and a reputation for being at the forefront of streetwear in the Middle East. As it continues to evolve and grow, the label remains committed to its North African roots while championing causes that matter, and the Precious Trust x BLTNM collaboration is no different.
