6 Breast Cancer Awareness Initiatives in the Middle East You Should Know About

In honor of Pinktober

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual global campaign that takes place every October to increase awareness of the deadly disease. During this month, many organizations and brands show support for those affected by breast cancer by launching initiatives that further education around the disease or by donating a percentage of their profits towards a number of breast cancer foundations. In the region, designers, brands, and non-profits are taking part in the fight against breast cancer in their own ways.

Liht Organics

Natural makeup brand Liht Organics teamed up with the UAE’s Zulekha Hospital this month to host a makeup masterclass at April Beauty Store in Dubai Mall on Oct. 15 to raise awareness of how ingredients found in chemical makeup products can be linked to different forms of cancer. All attendees of the free-to-attend educational session will get a breast cancer screening and consultation with either a general surgeon or oncologist.

Zanubia Shams, Zulekha Hospital Co-Chairperson said: “We reinforce this message of early detection and prevention of breast cancer for both genders year on year and are proud that our consistent awareness has impacted thousands of lives and their dear ones. Organizations such as Liht Organics are increasingly seeing the need to raise this awareness and we are happy to extend this message with their support far and wide.”

We would like to thank dnata Travel and our other local partners, who continue to support us in making significant advances in advancing research and patient treatment support in the UAE,” said Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation.
