To celebrate the opening of its new flagship store in Bodrum, Turkiye,
French luxury label Cartier called on Lebanese couturier Salim Azzam to develop an exclusive embroidery kit inspired by the Maison’s instantly recognizable Panthère motif.
Putting the Lebanese atelier’s signature craftsmanship to work, the collaboration reimagines Cartier’s iconic feline through intricate threadwork, bringing together two houses with a shared appreciation for detail and savoir-faire. Using centuries-old techniques, Azzam’s take on the Panthère draws on the embroidery traditions that have become central to his label’s identity, giving one of Cartier’s best-known symbols a distinctly Levantine touch.
In another caption, the 36-year-old revealed that he also drew inspiration from Bodrum, with the kit featuring illustrations that reflect the coastal town’s landscapes and spirit.
“Crafted by artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations, this charm carries with it a story of patience, skill, and intention. Within its threads, the Maison’s iconic panther takes shape an enduring symbol of elegance, strength, and magnetic beauty, brought to life through crafted artistry,” the 2019 Fashion Trust Arabia winner captioned an Instagram about the new collaboration.
Founded in 2016, Salim Azzam’s eponymous label has spent the past decade placing local craft at the heart of its work. Based in Mount Lebanon, the atelier works with women embroiderers from surrounding villages, drawing on skills and techniques passed down through generations and finding new ways to carry them into the present.
