Chanel Reveals Punk Induced Cruise Collection in Dubai

Cool and classy

For the second time in the brand’s history, French luxury label Chanel has taken it to the Emirates to showcase their latest cruise collection.

Helmed by Virginie Viard, the creative director revealed her latest sketches at the Dubai Creek and she was well accompanied to say the least. Multi award winning John Legend surprised guests with a special performance at the end of the runway show calling on the Moroccan-Canadian singer Faouzia for a heartfelt interpretation of their warm ardent duet “Minefields”.

Many A-list celebrities and models popped up at the event to witness the Parisian-based brand’s new thrilling fits. British-Moroccan Nora Attal, Algerian-French Loli Bahia and Dutch-born Jill Kortleve all made their way, amongst others, to the Emirati city to embody and strut down the historil label’s catwalk.

Spoiling us with remarkably dark and punk looks, Viard had big shoes to fill and is once again proving that she has triumphantly taken the torch up from the late Karl Lagerfeld who sadly passed away back in 2019.

The monochromatic pieces were deeply inspired by Jean Cocteau’s film “Testament of Orpheus” that plays on the duality of morals and that seem well translated onto the garments spotlighted at the event. With no bad play of words, the audience was compelled to the two sides of (instead of like) Chanel in a collection that feels quite paradoxical given the theme pushed forward and the presented pieces.

As per, from the runway to the after-party, Chanel has managed to wow us through their latest endeavours again making us feel impatient to see what is next to come.
