As Saudi Arabia’s music scene continues to flourish, emerging artists across genres are making their mark. Yet, the inner workings of this vibrant industry often remain hidden from view. That’s where XP Music Futures’ latest documentary steps in.
XP Music Futures, in collaboration with Badiya Studio, has unveiled Ashoo, a docuseries that dives deep into Saudi Arabia’s burgeoning music scene. Directed by the duo Chndy and Abu Hamdan, this series offers an unfiltered and authentic glimpse into the Kingdom’s evolving cultural landscape, spotlighting the raw sounds and untold stories emerging from its streets.
The six-episode series opens with intimate interviews featuring the trailblazers who have shaped Saudi Arabia’s musical identity. In a compelling joint statement, the directors emphasized their mission to illuminate these often overlooked narratives. “We aimed to present these stories with absolute authenticity, giving voice to individuals to share their experiences in their own words. This approach has allowed us to capture the passion, history, and profound love these artists have for their craft.
“It was essential to us to preserve the integrity of their narratives, providing a window into their worlds that is both genuine and powerful”, they said.
The first two episodes are already live on XP Music Features Youtube channel.
