DYSTINCT Just Made Billboard Arabia History With Longest No. 1 Run

In the post-COVID world, it’s been practically impossible to avoid hearing a DYSTINCT song somewhere. Whether they’re blasting from car speakers, soundtracking TikToks, or spilling outside nightclubs anywhere between Paris, Casablanca, Cairo, or Beirut, the Moroccan hitmaker has spent the better part of the last few years turning consistency into an art form. Now, that dominance has translated into a milestone of its own, with the 27-year-old officially becoming the artist with the most weeks spent at No. 1 on Billboard Arabia’s Hot 100 chart.

The announcement came via a joint post from Billboard Arabia and Guinness World Records, featuring the Belgian-born artist flanked by representatives from both organizations as he proudly held a plaque confirming the achievement. Detailing the record, Billboard Arabia revealed that the record was built on the success of two of DYSTINCT’s biggest hits, LA and YAMMA, both of which spent more than 15 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100; something no other artist has managed since the chart launched in December 2023.

Of the two, LA has enjoyed the longer shelf life. Released on his 2023 album Layali, the track has now spent an impressive 128 consecutive weeks on the ranking, making it one of Billboard Arabia’s longest-running songs to date. YAMMA isn’t doing too badly either, with the track currently in the middle of a 19-week run that shows little sign of ending anytime soon.

Another reminder of just how infectious his music is, at the rate he’s going, the odds of him becoming the region’s most internationally recognized artist have never been higher. And quite frankly, nobody seems better positioned than him to claim that title.
