After years of collaborative work, Egyptian rapper Wegz and Cairo-based director Ali El-Arabi are teaming up again, this time around a project for the silver screen industry. The duo, who previously teamed up on several standout works, including the music video for Ez El Arab during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, are now set to take their partnership to the big screen with a forthcoming feature film titled Wattar Wahed.
As of now, no additional details have been revealed about the plot, content, or release date of the forthcoming film. However, given the creative chemistry between Wegz, born Ahmed Ali, and El-Arabi—and their shared track record of producing impactful work— it should come as no surprise that their upcoming project is already generating anticipation and excitement.
El-Arabi is best known for directing Captains of Za’atari, a critically acclaimed documentary that earned international recognition, including screenings at prestigious festivals such as Cannes and Sundance.
Both talented in their respective fields — Wegz in music and El-Arabi in filmmaking — the two artists bring together distinct yet complementary perspectives, setting the stage for a film we hope will speak to a younger generation that is still begging to see its stories and struggles portrayed authentically on screen.
Stay tuned for more updates.
