Kenzo, under the visionary guidance of Artistic Director, DJ, producer, and all round creative Nigo, has joined forces with the renowned Japanese graphic artist Verdy for an exclusive Spring 2024 runway collection. Verdy, who is celebrated for his bold and vibrant designs exploring youth culture, rebellion, and nostalgia, has lent his distinctive touch to the forthcoming collaboration launching tomorrow.
The custom graphics crafted by the Japanese artist first took center stage at the House’s runway showcase during the last Men’s Fashion Week in Paris in June, with an encore presentation in Shanghai a month later. The eagerly-anticipated collection is set to launch at an exclusive Kenzo pop-up store in Paris’s Champs-Élysées from Dec. 2 to Dec. 17, after which the collection will make its mark at 10 Corso Como in Seoul for 10 days from Dec. 16 to Dec. 26, creating a symbolic bridge between the east and west for the House.
Verdy, who counts Nigo as a close friend, has seamlessly integrated influences from skateboarding, hip-hop, and manga into his work, embodying a perfect blend of Japanese and Western streetwear aesthetics. The collaboration manifests Nigo’s envisioned vibe, with the artist’s signature font boldly emblazoned across a carefully curated selection of garments from Kenzo’s Spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection.
For the holiday season, the Verdy-revisited lineup showcases the distinctive “Kenzo,” “Kenzo Paris,” “18 Rue Vivienne,” and “1970” branding across woven, knit, denim, and leather pieces, as well as accessories. In menswear, a striking ensemble features a short black windbreaker adorned with an all-over white logo, complemented by a navy knitted jumper and vest featuring the same iconic branding. Varsity cardigans in black-and-white, as well as oversized T-shirts, complete the lineup, presenting a fusion of style and urban edge.
Meanwhile, the women’s collection introduces a navy knitted jumper, cardigan, and skirt adorned with “Kenzo Paris” all over. Jersey pieces include a pink polo dress and an off-white cropped hoodie, both showcasing the distinctive branding. The genderless wardrobe, designed to be embraced by all, boasts a black hoodie with a white maxi front logo and a navy knitted, logo-infused cardigan.
Rounding out the genderless section are leather and varsity jackets, each bearing maxi logos on the chest and across the back. The jersey collection includes hoodies, jogging pants, and oversized T-shirts in a striking combination of colors, featuring allover logos in red or white.
As the Kenzo x Verdy collection makes its debut on Dec. 2, fashion enthusiasts can look forward to a unique blend of creativity, cultural influences, and a youthful style, epitomizing the collaborative spirit between Kenzo, Nigo, and the graphic visionary Verdy.
