Despite some minor setbacks, the Arab fashion scene has gone strength to strength over the last few years, and with the launch of Fashion Trust Arabia (FTA), it’s safe to say it’s the scene is about to gain some major momentum.
Spearheaded by Lebanese entrepreneur Tania Fares, FTA is on a mission to bring Arab design to the global forefront. With the prize ceremony set to be held next March, the non-profit organization has brought together some of the industry’s biggest names as judges for the inaugural edition.
Zuhair Murad, Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, Valentino’s Pierpaolo
And the list has grown even bigger with seven new judges joining the already-impressive FTA jury, among them model and muse Farida Khelfa, Diane von Furstenberg, Carla Bruni, Net-a-Porter’s Natalie Massenet, Aquazzura’s Edgardo Osorio, and none other than supermodel Imaan Hammam.
From womenswear to accessories and jewellery, the judges are set to choose a winner from each category, with the frontrunners gaining access to the entirety of the organization’s star-studded, and talented roster of mentors, including its executive committee, spearheaded by former CEO of Dubai Design District Nez Gebreel and former president of Next Models Europe Saif Mahdhi on board.
