Now 15 years in, Art Dubai is a cultural staple. After some hiatuses, a digital edition, and local programming, the art fair is now back in full swing—and bigger than ever.
Set to take place from March 11-13, this year’s edition will see over 100 exhibitors from 44 countries. With 30 first-time exhibitors the 2022 edition is the program’s most extensive yet.
“For over 15 years, Art Dubai has been a place to discover and celebrate new trends, creating and facilitating conversations, and celebrating the strength of creative output across the Global South. This year’s programme places particular emphasis on where the physical and digital realms intersect, and represents what is our most ambitious and extensive programme to date,” said Pablo De Val, Art Dubai’s Artistic Director in a statement.
This year’s surprises don’t stop there. Always known for its ground-breaking exhibits, the institution isn’t shying away from a world many are either diving straight into or afraid to dip their toes in: crypto. For the first time, the event will see a digital section that’s focused on the world of NFT art, cryptocurrency, video art and virtual reality.
Entitled Art Dubai Digital, the section will feature a selection of international galleries and platforms who have made a name for themselves in the digital art space. The 17 platforms include Turkish artist Refik Anadol, who recently took part in Louis Vuitton’s travelling exhibition See LV that’s currently exhibiting in Dubai, as well as Uta Bekaia and Denis Davydov, and Emergeast among others.
As part of Art Dubai Digital, an exhibition of new NFTs created by 12 UAE-based and international artists will also take place.

In the physical realm, the program will feature an interactive exhibition by Marina Fedorova. Entitled COSMODREAMS, the installation is said to explore the effects of technological advancements on our lives and environment. If you’re keen on attending a few panels, you won’t be short of options during this year’s edition. The 15th edition of Global Art Forum is making a comeback, this time of course, with a focus on the world of digital artifacts, Web 3.0, and Dubai’s crypto space, among others. Art Dubai Modern Talks, which will take place from March 10 to 12, will be examining the life and work of various art masters from the Middle East and North Africa across the 20th century.
