Tunisian Model Azza Slimene Walks for Chanel

Arab models are on the rise

Thanks to the likes of Afef Jnifen and Farida Khelfa, who have paved the way for models of regional origins, in recent years, Arab models have been taking international runways by storm.

The latest to join the ranks is Tunisian-born model Azza Slimene, who after finding success in her homeland, signed with NEXT Models Paris at just 21-years-old, and has just become one of the first Arab models to walk for Chanel—joining the likes of Imaan Hammam, Nora Attal, Hanaa Ben Abdesslem, and Sonia Ben Ammar.

We’re still a way off from total inclusivity in fashion, but we’d be remiss not to mention that Chanel has been consistently championing diversity on their runways. The fashion house has been rising to the occasion and casting their looks on models of colour—and ultimately pioneering their careers.
