The Saddle Bag Is Back On the Saddle

Dior is reinventing the iconic bag

Staying true to fashion’s infamously cyclical nature, the early noughties are back with a bang. Almost every influencer and fashion editor has been spotted wearing the most iconic staples from the divisive decade. From spaghetti straps to oversized hoop earrings — the Y2K aesthetic isn’t going anywhere.

Ah, the early 2000s… Carrie Bradshaw, Paris Hilton, Lil Kim, Liv Tyler…

If you’re old enough to remember that era, there’s no way you’ve missed the advent of the IT bag. If you have a tendency towards nostalgia, or just into digging up unique pieces, stay tuned, because the most iconic bag is coming back.

Following the footsteps of John Galliano in 1999, Maria Grazia Chiuri is reinterpreting Dior’s iconic Saddle Bag for her latest fall ready-to-wear collection. “I thought this collection was an opportunity to revive a timeless beauty”, says Chiuri who is honouring an important page of fashion history, adding to it a touch of modernity with her contemporary lines that make us eager to wear the saddle bag again.
