Fashion Forward Dubai Has Been Postponed Indefinitely

Is the region’s biggest fashion event coming to an end?

Since its inception in 2013, Fashion Forward Dubai (FFWD) has been one of the region’s most prominent platforms for emerging Middle Eastern talent. But from the looks of it, after a five-year run, the biannual event is coming to an end.

Ahead of its 11th season, the event’s organizers released a statement announcing its postponement; with no return date in sight.

“The creators and producers behind Fashion Forward Dubai are committed to ensuring the next Fashion Forward experience is sustainable and addresses the needs of a rapidly evolving industry. For now, future editions of Fashion Forward Dubai, the bi-annual event, are postponed until further notice, the statement read.

The event was due to be held at the end of this month from October 25-27. The news comes after the March edition was also postponed earlier this year.

While Dubai is also home to a number of regionally-respected fashion-oriented platforms, the biannual event has grown over the years and become the Middle East’s go-to showcase for both emerging and established fashion designers.

The news of FFWD’s cancellation stunned fashion enthusiasts across the region, but for those looking to get an insider look into rising talent, rest assured that there is another fashion event is set to be held in the region. An edition of Saudi Fashion Week is due to begin in Riyadh starting October 21 at Al Faisaliah Hotel.

Rising designer Arwa Al Banawi is amongst the designers to showcase at the event alongside Yahya Al Bishri, Lama Askari, Yanina Couture, among others.
