The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo, And More to Participate in Freedom for Sudan Auction Fundraiser

The online auction launches on Jan. 6

A new wave of artist-led activism is hitting the digital auction scene this January, as some of the world’s biggest music stars lend their influence to support Sudanese communities in crisis. From Jan. 6 to 12, Freedom for Sudan— a newly launched initiative— is hosting an online fundraising auction on the platform Galabid, featuring exclusive items and once-in-a-lifetime experiences donated by global artists and creatives.

The lineup so far reads like a pop culture dream: British rapper Central Cee, Grammy-winning R&B powerhouse SZA, breakout stars Olivia Rodrigo and PinkPantheress, and chart-topping icon The Weeknd are all confirmed participants. The auction offers rare opportunities to fans and collectors alike, including a meet-and-greet with Central Cee, a hangout session with SZA, and even an original self-portrait by PinkPantheress.

Among the most headline-grabbing lots is a major contribution from The Weeknd. The winning bidder will receive two premium tickets to his After Hours til Dawn Tour (subject to availability), alongside two pieces of official merchandise. Travel isn’t included, but for fans, the offering reframes concert access as a tool for impact rather than exclusivity.

Elsewhere, the auction leans into mentorship and creative exchange. Acclaimed British-Nigerian filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr— whose work has screened at Cannes, Sundance, Gotham, and BIFA— is offering a one-on-one mentoring session via Zoom, meanwhile, for emerging musicians, a standout lot comes from Chicago-born artist keiyaA. The package includes a two-hour music feedback and coaching session, tailored to works-in-progress across songwriting and production, plus a bundle of signed keiyaA vinyl.

What gives the initiative weight is where the money goes. All proceeds will go to established Sudanese non-profit organizations providing medical aid, emergency relief, food assistance and support for grassroots resistance efforts across the war-torn nation. Sudan has faced prolonged conflict and humanitarian challenges in recent years, making initiatives like this not just charitable gestures, but vital lifelines for vulnerable communities.

Hosted entirely online, the auction opens at 11am London time on Jan. 6 and closes at 11pm on Jan. 12, making it accessible to a global audience. To take part, visit www.galabid.com.
