When Oscar Piastri zipped past the finish line at the 2025 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, he wasn’t just handed a trophy—he was handed a moment encased in Louis Vuitton. Literally.
For the fourth race of the season, Louis Vuitton unveiled its fifth bespoke Trophy Trunk of 2025, a now-ritualistic fusion of motorsport adrenaline and Parisian craftsmanship. With its signature Damier canvas, black leather lining, and the bold hand-painted “V” (for both Victory and Vuitton, naturally), the trunk made its Bahrain debut in true podium fashion.
Crafted at the Maison’s storied Asnières atelier, the Bahrain Trophy Trunk is part of Vuitton’s 10-year global partnership with Formula 1, announced earlier this year. And while this collaboration is still in its first laps, Vuitton’s trophy trunks have already secured their own cult status. Here are some of our favorite.
FIFA World Cup Trophy Trunk (First introduced in 2010, reprised in 2014, 2018, and 2022)
Arguably the crown jewel of all trophy trunks. Commissioned by FIFA, Louis Vuitton designed a custom case to house the FIFA World Cup Trophy—the most coveted prize in international football. The trunk is sheathed in classic LV Monogram canvas, reinforced with brass locks and corners, and opens to reveal a luxurious cream interior with a snug compartment for the 18-karat gold trophy. Its global visibility—seen in billions of broadcasts—cemented it as a cultural icon.
Monaco Grand Prix Trophy Trunks (2021–2024)
Before the global F1 partnership kicked off in 2025, Louis Vuitton tested the waters with a bespoke trunk for the Monaco Grand Prix—the most glamorous and historic stop on the Formula 1 calendar. These trunks combined Louis Vuitton’s elegance with the high-stakes energy of Monte Carlo, becoming a recurring visual at podium ceremonies for four years.
Ballon d’Or Trophy Trunk (Debuted in 2023)
Commissioned by France Football, this sleek custom case was first revealed in 2023 to house the most prestigious award in world football: the Ballon d’Or. Wrapped in Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram canvas with bold golden accents, the trunk opened to a velvet-lined interior perfectly molded for the golden ball. It added a fresh, fashion-forward sheen to a century-old tradition.
NBA Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy Trunk (2020 debut)
As part of their landmark partnership with the NBA, Louis Vuitton unveiled a custom trunk to house the Larry O’Brien Trophy during the 2020 NBA Finals. Covered in Monogram canvas, the case featured bold blue accents (nod to the league’s palette) and was one of the brand’s first modern entries into American sports.
