Who isn’t a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise? The series that kicked off over a decade ago is still going strong with a new sequel, marking the 12th chapter of the saga, expected to hit screens next May. To keep us waiting in the meantime, Cody Walker, brother of the franchise’s late Paul Walker, who was one of the two lead actors alongside Vin Diesel, is bringing his famed FuelFest event for the first time to the region, promising to deliver his blend of blasting automotive shows and iconic music performances in the capital of the UAE.
The two-day event is set to cut the proverbial ribbon this weekend, starting from Dec. 17 and running until the next day. Liwa Village, an oasis area near Abu Dhabi, will soon play proud host to a new experience of a kind as the celebration of car culture has finally found a nest in the region. Fans and drivers alike can witness performance-built vehicles and rare motorsport engines rev, drift, and drive all while being showcased around a carnival of gigs ranging from exclusive retail hotspots all the way up to mouthwatering culinary treatments.
What’s more, visitors will also be able to meet, greet, and take photographs with some of the Fast and Furious cast, namely Tyrese Gibson and US rapper Ludacris as well as Walker, during an organized Q&A session where guests of the event will be able to blow their curiosity away and ask any question they wish about the industry and one of Hollywood’s longest lasting sagas.
Wrapping up the 48-hour gathering, Ludacris, who’s been involved with the series since its early days, will be giving a live performance. Expect to hear some of his worldwide hits, including Get Back, Southern Hospitality, and Move.
And, those worried about missing out on the few historic games left in the 2022 Qatar World Cup will be reassured to know that FuelFest guests will be able to catch all the football action on a big screen specifically set up for the last round of the tournament.
