An easy Eid Design? Applying henna ahead of Eid is a tradition that’s stood the test of time. From childhood memories of crowded salons to spontaneous late-night sessions at home, it’s one of those rituals that marks the celebration. Simple or elaborate, minimal or maximalist, or even an uneven blob on the palm of your hand applied by your mom—henna has become a visual marker of Eid itself.
To make things easier this year, we tapped Sara Munafer—Sri Lankan-born, Dubai-based, and the first-ever internationally certified henna artist in the Middle East—for a step-by-step guide even those who may not have a steady hand or the patience for traditional application techniques can master at home. As the founder of Dubai Henna, she’s worked with everyone from Dior to Fendi, and built the region’s first homegrown brand dedicated to organic, safe, and design-forward henna. She’s also the force behind the Henna Master Course—a first-of-its-kind online program designed to help anyone, anywhere, learn the art of henna from the ground up. Originally priced at AED 5000, the course is now available for just AED 599 throughout March in celebration of Ramadan.
Now, she’s sharing an exclusive Eid al-Fitr design and practical tips on how to recreate the intricate pattern with MILLE.
Step 1: Draw guidelines
Start by drawing 2-3 curved lines on the wrist and a guiding line towards the finger.

Step 2: Create the first leaf vine
Begin drawing small leaves along one of the curved guidelines.

Step 3: Expand the leaf vine
Continue adding leaves, extending the vine along the wrist for a natural flow.

Step 4: Complete the wrist design
Fill in the wrist area with another leaf vine to create a bracelet effect.

Step 5: Add a guiding line on the hand
Draw a simple curve from the wrist to the finger as a base for the hand design.

Step 6: Extend the vine on the hand
Start drawing leaves along the new guiding line towards the finger.

Step 7: Final touches and details to Perfect this Easy Eid Design
Refine the design by making the leaves bolder and balanced, ensuring a smooth flow.
