2019 marks the twentieth anniversary of Bvlgari’s iconic B.zero1 collection, and to celebrate the five-band ring—which was originally inspired by ancient Rome’s Colosseum—the Italian brand has reissued a new line of gold, white gold, rose gold, and diamond encrusted iterations engraved with “XX Anniversary” on their internal ferrule.
MILLE collaborated with acclaimed contemporary henna designer Azra Khamissa (also known as Dr. Azra) to mark the occasion by shooting a minimal, but powerful reinterpretation of the ring with a regional twist.
Khamissa, who is currently spearheading the region’s contemporary henna movement, was the perfect person to marry regional geometry and Italian luxury together.
The ring’s fluid shape created with the Tubogas method: long thin strips wrapped and interlocked without any soldering, has long-inspired artists such as Anish Kapoor and the late Zaha Hadid.
We asked photographer Moez Achour to shoot the signature rings accompanied by Khamissa’s geometric henna designs as seen on model Marina.
