Want to Help? Here’s How (and Where) to Donate to Sudan

Sudan needs our help

Imagine waking up and realizing half your country has fled, your city’s hospitals are shuttered, clean water is a luxury, and food prices have soared. That’s life in Sudan right now. Since the conflict broke out in April 2023 between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), more than 25 million people are facing crisis or emergency levels of food insecurity, which is the highest figure ever recorded post-harvest.

As a donor, you might wonder “Is my money really going to help?” The short answer is yes—if you pick the right charity. Below, we’ve pulled together a refined list of reputable organizations working on the ground plus a quick “how to give” checklist so your donation has real impact.

Here are three smart-donor filters before you click “Donate”:

  • The organization must show where funds go, and must work (or partner) within Sudan.
  • Given Sudan’s overlapping emergencies (conflict, hunger, displacement, climate shocks), pick charities that cover food, WASH (water/sanitation/hygiene), displacement, child protection.
  • If you know someone on the ground — help them directly. Sudan’s banking system is fragile and digital transfers can be complicated, but if you have trusted contacts or verified fundraisers from people affected by the war, that’s often the fastest and most direct way to make an impact.

Charities to Donate to Sudan

Sahem Platform – King Salman Donation Center

If you’re in Saudi Arabia, one of the most reliable ways to donate to Sudan is through Sahem, the official charitable giving platform run by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief). The platform allows residents to contribute directly to emergency campaigns, including those supporting Sudanese families affected by the war. Every donation goes through a verified and transparent process, ensuring funds are used for essential relief efforts like food distribution, medical aid, and shelter. Donate here

Sudan Solidarity Collective (SSC)

Formed as a response to the outbreak of the war in Sudan, the Toronto-based Sudanese-led volunteer collective is dedicated to fundraising via its Sudan Solidarity Fund, which channels resources directly to grassroots initiatives and mutual aid networks on the ground. Donate here

Sudan Humanitarian Foundation (SHF)

Founded by members of the Sudanese diaspora, the Sudan Humanitarian Foundation (SHF) is a non-profit organization committed to delivering life-saving assistance to families affected by the ongoing conflict. Working closely with local partners and volunteers across Sudan, the foundation provides essential aid such as food, clean water, medicine, and shelter to displaced communities. Donate here

Choose Love Non-profit Organization

Known for its grassroots, people-first approach, Choose Love is a UK-based non-profit that has extended its support to Sudan through emergency fundraising and partnerships with local relief groups. The organization focuses on getting aid directly to refugees and displaced families. Donate here

Sunduq Al Sudan on JustGiving

Founded on the idea of the traditional “alsunduq” (community savings box) and led by the diaspora-rooted collective Glsa Inc (RCN 611861903), it channels donations directly into mutual-aid initiatives on the ground. Past distributions include food-basket drives in West Kordofan and clean-water and health-aid support in Darfur and El Fashir. All funding is funnelled through a trusted fiscal sponsor GISA, ensuring transparency and accountability. Donate here

The Sudan Benefit Fundraiser

The Sudan Benefit Fundraiser is a grassroots aid drive, where every dirham donated goes straight into urgent support for families affected by the crisis in Sudan. With no platform fees deducted, your gift is deployed directly to on-the-ground initiatives: food baskets, clean water delivery, emergency shelter and medical care. Donate here

Artists Raising Funds for Sudan

Hleem

Sudanese rapper Hleem is putting his money where his mic is. The Khartoum-born, Riyadh-based artist announced that 100 percent of the profits from his upcoming concert in the Saudi capital will be donated to humanitarian relief efforts in Al-Fasher, a city in North Darfur that has seen some of the worst violence since the conflict began.
