For over two decades, the Ibiza Music Summit (IMS) has been at the forefront of the electronic music scene, hosting one of the world’s most comprehensive gatherings focused on all aspects of the genre. Each year, the event invites industry-experts, artists and managers, “to explore industry trends, innovations, and the challenges (their respective) community faces,” on the Mediterranean island.
For the first time ever, the sonic conference will make its way to our side of the world, bringing its knowledge to Dubai for a groundbreaking edition. Slated to take place over two days from Nov. 14 – 15, for its debut in our region, IMS aims to foster new connections, inspire collaborations, and spark fresh conversations around the future of electronic music while “marking a strategic expansion into the Middle East and North Africa.”
According to a recently shared press release, some of the topics that will be probed range from the business of electronic music to focusing on opportunities for investment, funding, and entrepreneurship. Discussions on the expanding role of women and minority groups in the industry will also be held. Some of the main speakers attendees can look forward to hearing include professionals from YouTube, Warner Music Group, Anghami, Tomorrowland, CAA, and Defected. British-Lebanese DJ and producer Saliah, Egyptian DJ and Yasmeen Selectress, and French-Iranian artist Parvané are among the featured speakers.
“This year, IMS lands in MENA as a response to the region’s growing importance in the global music scene,” the IMS founders told regional music platform SceneNoise. “Our goal is to inspire continued growth, support, and investment while addressing the unique cultural challenges musicians and start-ups face,” they continued.
Held at W Mina Seyahi, tickets for the summit will go on sale starting Sept. 19, with a share of the proceeds expected to be directed towards climate action initiatives in collaboration with IMS’s charity partner, EarthPercent.
