If You Funk With Punk, Isabel Marant’s FW25 Is For You

we said what we said

Just steps from the Louvre, at Place Collette, Isabel Marant welcomed guests from around the world, all eager to see what the French label, led by Dutch designer Kim Bekker, had envisioned for Fall 2025. The few sun-rays Paris had enjoyed the afternoon prior had quickly disappeared, turning the City of Lights noticeably colder in a matter of hours. Yet, the drop in temperature did not stop dedicated fans from gathering in droves outside the venue, clogging an entire carrefour with a sea of D.I.Y signs, deafening the neighborhood with load roars of excitement each time a black-tinted taxi would drop a famous face off at the entrance.

One celebrity in particular managed to steal the show: K-Pop sensation Seonghwa. Making his runway debut with the Paris-based brand, the South Korean singer was the center of attention, outshining other V.I.P guests (even Kate Moss) as fans kept screaming his name all throughout the evening. Little did they know, the 26-year-old had been inside for fittings and last-minute tweaks long before the event even opened its doors. And when the mighty moment finally arrived… well, let’s just say that the Internet had a bit of a meltdown. Having already expressed his affinity for womenswear, the Seoul-born artist took full advantage of the opportunity to tap into his interest for feminine fashion, sporting a look that blurred the boundaries of gender.

For his first time cat-walking, Seonghwa was wrapped in a shouldered black blazer, adorned with a brooch on the left-hand side of the coat’s chest. Underneath, he paired a high-collared white shirt with a sparkling, layered top that gave the whole look a prep-school feel. To round it all off, he strut in black-and-white heels, creating an ensemble that, sartorially speaking, challenged several social constructs within the creative field, beginning with fashion — despite what many might claim. After the show, the ATEEZ band-member took to Instagram to reflect on this milestone moment. “Walking my dream into reality,” he captioned a recently-shared carousel of photos, offering fans a small peek into his debut and more behind-the-scenes exclusives.

As for the new looks on display, it was as if the punk aesthetic from the early 2000s had been resurrected, embraced almost, injecting each piece with a raw, yet rebellious Rock ‘n’ Roll edge. If you weren’t around (not to say, born) back then — think grunge, grit, and just the right amount of chaos, but with a high-fashion twist. Black leather was one of the main materials spotted repeatedly all throughout the collection, cut into oversized jackets, handbags and above-the-ankle boots, as well as into fitted-trousers, high-heels and belts. Adorned with studs, silver buttons, and safety pins, amongst various other charms, the line maintained a certain level of balance, often contrasting the roughness of the hide at use with flowing silhouettes, as seen on the draped mini-skirt.

Our favorite piece? The pinstripe suit. With a version for men and another for women, both iterations of the costume hugged each model just right, starting from French-Algerian model Sid Oudainia Beaulieu — who had the set paired with a crimson red piece of footwear — and Fadia Gheeb who, in turn, had a it covering a ruffle-collar, white-threaded top. Special mention to the bond-style over-caats, splashed in hues from black all the way up to cherry, which we can’t wait to rock as soon as soon as temperatures drop a little further down than usual on our neck of the woods.
