An Insider’s Guide to Paris Nightlife

Rising DJ Andy 4000 shares her favourite local haunts

Paris has long-been associated with bourgeois nightlife and exclusive clubs, but a new generation of daring creatives are bringing an unprecedented buzz to the local club scene. And 26-year-old DJ and radio host Andrée Keita, Aka Andy 4000, is leading the way. “I grew up in a bi-cultural household listening to African music, funk, disco and latino music”, she says, discussing how she’s been exposed to a myriad of various genres since she was a child.

Naturally, Keita started creating playlists and mixing at house parties, until she was booked to play her first set in a bar in the red light district of Paris, Pigalle, a couple of years ago.

Thanks to her eclectic sets, Keita has since made made a solid name for herself by playing shows all over Paris. “What I like the most about nightlife in Paris is its diversity”, she says explaining how despite what some might think, young Parisian clubbers are breaking the city’s conservative rules to create new inclusive environments.
