Instagram Will Soon Allow Its Users To Re-Arrange Their Grids

finally!!!!!

Our prayers have finally been answered as Instagram has just announced the launch of a new feature that will allow users to rearrange how photos and videos are displayed on their profiles. After years of deleting and reposting just to nail the perfect grid, account holders will soon be able to customize the layout of their profile even after content has been posted.

In the beta testing phase over the past year for some users, the long-awaited feature will be rolled out globally to all Instagram users from June 16 onwards. Reactions online were quick to praise the forthcoming update, with many users celebrating the end of the painstaking delete-and-repost era and hailing the feature as a game-changer for everyone involved starting from content creators and brands to everyday Instagrammers.

Enabling the feature is relatively straightforward. Once it’s integrated into the app, all you’ll need to do is press and hold a post on your grid, or click on the “Edit Grid” tab under the Edit Profile section. From there, simply drag and drop posts to rearrange them as you like. Changes are saved automatically, but an “Undo” button will be available during each “Edit Grid” session in case you change your mind.

Likely a response to the shift in how people are now using the platform— where fewer are actively sharing and more are passively scrolling or silently keeping tabs on others— this update does feel like a nudge toward what Instagram once was: an unfiltered chronicle of our lives we have control over. And while we’re on the topic…if anyone from IG or Meta is reading this: please bring the boxy squares back to the grid as these stretched-out rectangle frames just aren’t it to be honest.
