Disneyland has officially announced its entry into the region, with its first Resort theme park set to open in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Joining Miami, Anaheim, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Paris, and Shanghai, Yas Island will be the next global destination to host the iconic Disneyland Resort theme park, marking a major milestone in Disney’s expansion across the world and the UAE’s growing entertainment landscape.
From what’s been revealed, the park “will be authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati, an oasis of extraordinary Disney entertainment that is at the crossroads of the world,” according to Bob Iger, Disney Chief Executive during a recent press conference. “The seventh Disney theme park resort destination represents a new frontier in theme park innovations,” Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairperson Josh D’Amaro added, explaining that the new location will also be the “most advanced and interactive destination” to date. Though there’s no opening date set just yet, if reports are anything to go by, the park should open sometime in the next five years.
