Only a week after J.W. Anderson’s departure from Loewe after 11-years at the house, the Spanish luxury label has already announced his replacement in a public statement released on Monday morning. It has just been revealed that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will assume the new creative direction of Loewe, starting from April 7 — Though their arrival had been expected ever since they announced plans back in January to step down from Proenza Schouler, the New York-based fashion house they founded 25-years-ago.

Nominated to oversee the womenswear, menswear, leather goods, and accessories divisions of the brand, McCollough and Hernandez are set to bring their respective vision and decades-old expertise to Loewe, continuing the brand’s legacy all while writing, or should we say stitching, its next chapters.

In a joint statement, the designer duo expressed their excitement about the new role: “We are incredibly honoured to join Loewe, a House whose values and mission align closely with our own. We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped LOEWE into the cultural force it is today. We extend our sincere gratitude to Bernard Arnault, Delphine Arnault, Sidney Toledano, and to Pascale Lepoivre for entrusting us with this remarkable house’s next chapter.”

Loewe CEO Pascale Lepoivre added: “I am delighted to welcome Jack and Lazaro to LOEWE. Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built, and I am excited to see them shape its future.”

Having met during their university years at Parsons School of Design in New York, McCollough and Hernandez quickly bonded over their shared passion for fashion: a connection that would later lay the foundation for their highly successful collaboration as the founders of Proenza Schouler.

Now, as they step into their new role at Loewe, they are set to bring that same creative synergy to one of the most iconic Maison’s in the industry, only making us wonder what fresh direction they will take the brand in.

Meanwhile, Anderson is widely rumored to be next in line for the creative director role at Dior, another prestigious house under the LVMH umbrella.
