Jonathan Anderson Parts Ways With LOEWE After 11-Years

bye-bye

After over a decade spent at the helm of Loewe, British designer Jonathan Anderson will be stepping down from his position as creative director. For 11 years since 2013, the 40-year-old oversaw the brand’s evolution, redefining its aesthetic and solidifying its position as a leader in luxury fashion. Today, it was announced that the England-born designer will be off to write the next chapter of his career under another banner— if not his own.

Through a post on Instagram, Anderson reflected on his time at the Spanish house, highlighting some of his favorite moments throughout his decade-long tenure at the brand, including the launch of the Craft Prize, which he described as one of his “proudest achievements.” He also expressed gratitude for the design team that supported him along the way as well as for the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the world of fashion thanks to the label’s global reach.

“While reflecting on the last 11 years, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by people with the imagination, the skills, the tenacity and the resourcefulness to find a way to say ‘yes’ to all my wildly ambitious ideas,” wrote Anderson. “While my chapter draws to a close, Loewe’s story will continue for many years to come, and I will look on with pride, watching it continue to grow, the amazing Spanish brand I once called Home,” Anderson continued in the released statement.

“I am incredibly grateful to Jonathan Anderson for the eleven years of unmatched creativity, passion and dedication that he has given to Loewe,”  Pascale Lepoivre, LOEWE CEO, added. “With him as its creative director, the House has risen to new heights with international recognition. The Puzzle bag, celebrating its 10th anniversary, has become a true icon, and the brand codes that he has created, rooted in craft, will live on as his legacy.”

Though his next move is yet to be revealed, Anderson’s ability to surprise us with the unexpected means that we’ll be keeping a close eye on what comes next — wherever that may be.
