With mere weeks left before the launch of its inaugural edition, Jordan’s Medaina festival has started unveiling the names of the artists expected to flock to Petra and Wadi Rum in May in what’s shaping up to be one of the most anticipated gigs of the summer. Scheduled to take place between May 21-26, the region’s newest gathering point for all things electronic music will feature an exciting mix of international and regional talent, offering festival-goers an unforgettable experience in one of the world’s seven wonders.
From what we know, German house-techno duo Ame, French producers Aline Umber, American-based music production and DJ partnership Bedouin, and Swiss musician Jimi Jules are just some of the exciting names on the lineup, with many more expected to be announced in coming weeks. But since we know that you’re itching to know more, Ben Sterling, HVOB, Mind Against, Patrice Bäumel, Rolbac, Sonja Moonear are already on the bill and ready to light up both Petra and Wadi Rum with their respective sets.
“After four years of deep dreaming and careful planning, we are finally here. The time has come for us to launch Mediana at the absolutely magical sites of Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan while being completely considerate of our local community. We are proud that this inaugural event showcases the very best Jordanian cultural and artistic offerings” Co-Founder Shahin Mani said in a released statement.
“After scouting many countries and cities we landed on Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan. I believe these locations have very strong cultural and historical elements that will be inspiring for our audience and will also serve as very unique and aesthetically pleasing locations to create a mind-blowing production aligned with the culture, history, and geo elements of the place,” organizers told MILLE in an former interview.
With activations ranging from music to food, well-being, and cultural discovery, Medaina is designed to engage every sense, offering a multi-dimensional experience where ticket-holders can dance under the stars, indulge in local flavors, explore artistic expressions, and recharge through wellness offerings.
