Kiss Facility, the multidisciplinary duo made up of Emirati-Egyptian artist Mayah Alkhateri and Irish-Chilean producer Salvador Navarrete (better known as Sega Bodega), are finally stepping into full-length territory. After years of cultivating a cult following through cryptic visuals, intimate performances, and genre-bending releases, the pair have announced their debut album, KHAZNA, arriving Feb. 27.
The title, which translates to “treasure house” or “safe,” hints at something deeply personal. According to the duo, the record holds everything they’ve kept tucked away: vulnerability, belief systems, private thoughts, the emotional stuff you don’t usually say out loud. Sonically, Kiss Facility sit somewhere near shoegaze, but their version feels heavier, more intimate, threaded with Arabic lyricism and submerged vocals that sound like they’re coming from inside your head rather than a stage.
If you’ve been paying attention, this moment has been a long time coming. While KHAZNA is their first full-length album, it follows 2023’s Esoteric, a five-track project that introduced their moody, inward-facing sound. Since then, they’ve released a string of singles including Flesh Mix and, most recently, Cheap Poetry, which arrived alongside the album announcement.
Part of what makes this project feel special is where it was made. Alkhateri and Navarrete spent the last three years living and working in the same Paris apartment once occupied by painter Georges Seurat— not exactly a neutral backdrop. The duo say many of the album’s songs were written there, at home, which makes sense. And according to Navarrete, it is their “finest work.”
The tracklist features 11 songs, which includes Plasma, their 2024 song which was recently sampled by Fred again.., PlaqueBoyMax, and Skepta on their collaborative project Victory Lap.
As Alkhateri previously told MILLE, music is her escape, “the friend that’s always there when I am lonely.” If this album hits the way it seems like it will, a lot of people are about to feel the same way.
