KML’s SS27 Collection Invited Fashion Week to Slow Down

As editors, buyers, models, and photographers rushed from one show to the next during Paris Fashion Week, KML’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation offered a rare moment of pause. Upon arriving, guests were asked to remove their shoes before stepping onto a carpeted floor inside the Arab World Institute; a simple ritual that immediately changed the atmosphere and prepared them (us) for an experience that quite meditative to say the least.

After an artistically directed short film celebrating regional Saudi dance traditions, the label’s debut collection at PFW emerged against a softly draped monochrome backdrop that mirrored the wardrobe itself. Dominated by black, white, and muted shades of grey, the looks felt suspended somewhere between past and present. Flowing wrap tops recalling the construction of kimonos, elongated tunics, cape-like layers, and generously pleated trousers came together to form silhouettes that borrowed from centuries-old methods of dress without ever feeling like costume.

Founded by siblings Ahmed and Razan Hassan, KML has quickly established itself as one of Saudi Arabia’s most distinctive menswear labels. The latest collection only reinforced that position, presenting a wardrobe where every fold, drape, and proportion served a purpose. Flowing caftan-like cuts, wrapped shirts, elongated tunics, and generously pleated trousers came together to create a wardrobe where every fold, drape, and proportion served a purpose.

Crisp cotton shirting with high collars and architectural cuts sat alongside sheer, floating robes that drifted with each step, while sculptural outerwear and wrapped tailoring introduced moments of precision. Volume was never excessive for the sake of spectacle; instead, it was carefully controlled, allowing the garments to move almost ceremonially around the body while always giving it room to flow.

More than a collection of individual looks, KML presented a fully realised design language. From the barefoot presentation to the restrained palette and fluid proportions, every element worked towards the same idea: contemporary menswear doesn’t always need to shout to leave an impression. In a season often defined by spectacle, KML proved that quiet confidence can be just as memorable.
